Charles Rutherfoord is an architectural designer whose work is founded in the structural and sculptural. An interest in planning and use of space has led to commisions for new architectural work and re-structuring of houses, offices and shops.

New building work is related to landscape and surrounding architecture in its siting, form and mass. Existing buildings are restructured to accomodate contemporary needs.

The tranquility he achieves through innovative use of texture and rare clarity of detail characterises his projects. A passion for unexpected materials and association of colour can be seen throughout his work.

He works closely with clients to develop a detailed brief. Projects encompass architecture, interior design, lighting and the arrangement of furniture, paintings and sculpture.

In 2017 Charles Rutherfoord was appointed a member of the Master Planning Teams for Architecture and Landscape for Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust.
